Mummies! — Nasca, Peru

Nasca, Peru

Wow October already! On the bus now on the way to the sand dunes yay! We did the wild life boat tour this morning it was really good saw loads of birds and didn't get pooed on score! And about 50 sea lions so my camera is full of pictures of them and a few of me smiling like a goon with them in the background. Was lots of fun I really enjoyed it and I'm so looking forward to dunes later though that like 60 soles on activities today, hope its not always going to cost this much. Apparently we are gong for a wine and Pisco tasting before hand so that should be good, though us lot drunk and on sand buggies should be interesting. Getting to know everyone a lot better now and barely thinking of home, it does feel like a holiday now and home is far from my mind as I'm having a good time. Facetimed Rob briefly before I got on the coach, I think he just wants me to have fun and stop worrying, I should probably not message him so much but I want to tell him everything, I suppose he will have 3 days where I am MIA when I do the inca trail. I can't believe I am in Peru it's just crazy but in a good way of course, saw a few poverty stricken areas on the bus yesterday like shanty town type things with houses made out of anything and everything, I'm glad I saw them I wanted to see that side of living here. Still on the quest for a traveller bracelet ideally with a llama on it and also I need a llama wool jacket, hopefully can pick this stuff up in Cusco. I'm not writing as much in these entries as I was at the start if noticed, even though I'm doing more. I guess because Im just writing it to get everything I'm doing down whereas before it was more of a sob story, now I'm happy iv not much to say! Other than so far I'm glad I got on the plane to Lima, I'm having fun and I will try and update this later with sand dune stories :) On the bus again heading to Nasca, going through the Peruvian countryside it's stunning mountainous and quite baron looking with an endless road totally unlike home, iv not seen a house in ages. It's oddly beautiful and the sun is setting I feel truly lucky to be here. I only wish Rob was here with me as there is no way I can describe all this to him and I want him to share in it. Iv started reading 50 shades of grey too which isn't helping my missing his company, missing his face and his touch and his voice. Hopefully we can share Asia together and many happy years from now, many more experiences to be had. So what have I done today, we had a wine tasting that was fun, got to see how they make Pisco and other wines at the winery, iv never done a wine tasting before. We had a small shot of 5 different Piscos most were nice though he over did my sweet wine shot then Annie tried to make me do a whole shot of the 46% stuff but I made her have half, they don't know I'm a lit weight! Then we went to the dunes. Oh my god it was awesome way better than I was expecting. We rode in the sand buggy about 8 of us I think and the driver took us across the dunes which are massive they stretch as far as you can see like a desert. He rocketed about it was mega bumpy and it felt like we were going to roll a few times. We were harnessed in and I can see why we were bouncing all over the place gong up massive dunes before we stopped on a dune that looked over the city it was stunning. Then we headed to the first dune for boarding, the board was a snow board which we lay on and go head first down. I was super eager to do it as I'm an adrenaline junkie so I volunteered to go first. The first dune was easy not even exhilarating and the 2nd one wasn't much better but the third one was like two in one. I went second so Andy went first and stopped before hitting the second run so had to paddle down. I however put my legs up and rocketed down both surpassing him at the bottom ad he waked towards the waiting buggy. Buncie, Kim, Pria and I took some jumping in the air photos and some in the buggy before going back. And Pria took video so can't wait to see that! We raced the other buggy back and had half an hour before we set out onto the road again to get to Nasca and the next hotel so a few of us girls decided to sit by the pool with our feet in which was awesome and so cooling and refreshing as we have sand everywhere. W sat and chatted in the sun for a bit tried to persuade Pria to jump in but failed, she said she will at the hotel pool but I'm not sure if we have one. I hope we do as a ,lot of people are going to see the Nasca lines which is $100 bucks and I don't want to spend that so I'm happy to sit and sun by the pool. Hopefully it's a nice hotel Carlos said it is but then I guess that's his job to say! At the hotel just got into bed, had a nice evening though dinner was a bit questionable as it was like spaghetti bolognese soup! Got to know a few of the girls a bit better though and Carlos played his guitar which was nice. There's been big debates about going to see the Nasca lines, personally I would rather stay at the hotel and have a cocktail by the pool :) that's my plan and hooray there is a pool with a waterslide apparently! We are going to the oldest cemetery in South America tomorrow I a, looking forward to that it should be interesting.
